In my spare time I belong to the Holmen Area Rotary. We meet every Wednesday morning at 7am and discuss ways to make a better community and better world. Our members have to meet attendance standards and we give our time, talents and treasures to causes not only locally but around the world. The Holmen Area Rotary has made the front cover of a “World News” magazine with our water project in Lima, Peru. We have sponsored buying cows in Africa to help support schools. Rotary Lights has been the area’s biggest food drive and has been replicated in several other cities after they saw our success. We send kids on Student Exchanges around the Globe. We provide local scholarships for kids in our communities and regularly nominate a “student of the month”. We have a Rotary Interact club in the high school that is the talk of the district and was part of putting together 50,000 meals for needy people that received a national recognition. We raised $20,000 for Holmen’s Police Canine dog and continue to support him. We are currently raising funds for a shelter and the Holmen Area Community Center. If you are interested in finding out more, stop in at the Holmen City Hall Wednesday mornings at 7:00 am. I will buy you breakfast and you will meet your communities’ best citizens.
